C.A.R.G.O: Cases Are Rare Gifts Offered-Call for Donations

C.A.R.G.O is for 'Cases Are Rare Gifts Offered' to foster youth. As foster parents in South Texas, we recognize an urgent need to ensure that children who enter the foster care system are NOT 'garbage bagged' from home to home during their unfortunate journey. While a suitcase is the least of their worries, foster children deserve to be able to maintain some dignity during a tragic removal and placement in an unfamiliar setting. Having a bag or suitcase/luggage of their very own let's them know they are NOT disposable, and someone cares for them by providing a case for their belongings (indeed a small but valuable gesture).

It is a sad and heartbreaking truth for many foster parents that children are most often moved so unexpectedly that there simply isn't time to procure a bag during placement. Foster parents and foster children have so much to comply with during transition that a moving bag is one of the last things thought of. We are asking each visitor to this site to commit to donating whatever amount you'd like but at least $1 to this fundraiser or commit to sending one - new or gently used suitcase (Yes, a used one is fine with us) with a message of hope for the child who will receive your gift.

Suitcases or bags can be shipped to

PO BOX 121 LA GRULLA, TX 78548.

If you know of someone wanting to donate their new or gently used travel gear for the cause, we are scheduling public pick ups until we have a donation drop site designated. To schedule a pick, call or text 956 735 3189.
