MexAustin Scholarship Application Now Available
MexAustin Scholarship Application Now Available
The Consulate General of Mexico in Austin, in collaboration with local nonprofit Foundation Communities, is pleased to announce that the MEXAUSTIN Scholarship application is now available at MexAustin.com. Students entering college for the first time in the fall of 2016 are eligible to apply. In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must have at least a 2.5 high school GPA, be first- or second-generation Mexican or other Latino immigrants and live within the Consulate's jurisdiction. The program plans to award $1,000 scholarships to 140 students. The application deadline is April 30. Additional details about the scholarship are available at MexAustin.com.
Since the MEXAUSTIN Scholarship application cannot be submitted without completing a financial aid form (FAFSA or TAFSA), Foundation Communities offers in-person help with the financial aid process at their Community Financial Centers in North and South Austin. Appointments may be scheduled at (512) 610-4012 or fafsa@foundcom.org.
The MEXAUSTIN Scholarship program is funded by the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin and Central Texas organizations committed to encouraging Mexican and Latino students to pursue higher education. This effort would not be possible without the support of the following partners: Hispanic Scholarship Consortium, IBC Bank, Texas Mexican Restaurant Association, U.S. Hispanic Contractor Association Austin, EXATEC Austin, Ponce Law Firm, Hendler Lyons & Flores Law Firm, Alex Reyer Attorney PLLC, Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos, and Greater San Marcos Partnership.

Fresh Express Announces Precautionary Recall of a Limited Quantity of 12 oz. Baby Spinach Due to Possible Allergen Exposure
Fresh Express Incorporated is voluntarily issuing a precautionary recall of 350 cases of 12 oz. Fresh Express Baby Spinach with a Product Code of G010A17A and Use-By Date of January 24 due to a possible exposure to a tree nut allergen (almond). Fresh Express representatives are already coordinating with stores to remove the recalled product from retail stores where distributed, primarily in Eastern and Southeastern states.

Children's Guaifenesin Grape Liquid and Guaifenesin DM Cherry Liquid by Perrigo Company: Recall - Potential Defect with Dosage Cup
Perrigo Company announced that, following the recent recall of certain dosing cups by its supplier, it has initiated a voluntary product recall in the US to the retail level of 2 batches of its children's guaifenesin grape liquid (100mg/5 mL) and 3 batches of its children's guaifenesin DM cherry liquid (100mg guaifenesin and 5mg dextromethorphan HBr/ 5 ml) sold in 4 oz. bottles with dosage cup in a box under multiple store brand product names. Some packages contain an oral dosing cup with incorrect dose markings. See the press release for affected label and lot numbers.
