Summary: By attending this workshop participants will have an understanding of trauma experiences and reactions with the focus on sexual abuse victims. Participants will learn how to help sexual abuse victims identify and process feelings related to the abuse, reduce feelings of guilt and shame, address some of the cognitive distortions associated with sexual abuse, and implement healthy coping skills utilizing play therapy activities and techniques.

Learning Objectives:  Using the TF-CBT model participants will be able to describe at least 10 play therapy techniques to utilize in clinical practice with sexually abused children and adolescents.  Participants will learn how to use play therapy techniques in a group setting and incorporate nonoffending caregivers in the treatment.  Participants will have an understanding on how sexual abuse impacts the family unit.
